Account Basics
Your Auburn University username and password are key to accessing many of the resources the Office of Information Technology provides. Protect your identity by protecting your password.
- Do not share your password with anyone.
- Choose a strong password using aub.ie/strongpasswordkb as a guide.
- For instructions on changing your password, visit aub.ie/passwordkb.
- If you need password assistance, contact the IT Service Desk at 334-844-4944.
Employees who leave the university and do not have retiree status will lose access to all Auburn resources following their last date of employment.
Duo Mobile
Duo Mobile 2-factor authentication protects the personal information of all students and employees by requiring additional approval from a registered device when accessing various Auburn resources. The Office of Information Technology recommends utilizing Duo Mobile for push notifications when initially setting up your Duo account at auburn.edu/duo. Never approve a Duo push that you did not initiate.

AU Network
An overview of network and wireless connectivity at Auburn can be found in the Knowledge Base article at aub.ie/aunetwork.
eduroam is the main wireless network for students, faculty, and staff to connect their phones and computer devices on Auburn's campus.
Connect to eduroam by selecting it from your device's WiFi settings, then enter your full Auburn email address (username@auburn.edu) and password. You will also be able to join the eduroam network using your AU credentials when visiting other eduroam university campuses. VPN
Employees can access Auburn's networks remotely using a virtual private network (VPN). To download the software, visit aub.ie/auinstall and select "Palo Alto GlobalProtect VPN Client." Once installed, aub.ie/vpnkb can guide you through the setup process.
Software
Microsoft Office 365
- All Auburn employees have access to the full suite of Microsoft Office 365 products, including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and more. The Microsoft 365 license allows for download on up to five (5) devices. Visit aub.ie/officekb for instructions on downloading Microsoft 365 on a personal device.
Microsoft Outlook for Email
- Email is the official line of communication at Auburn University. The Office of Information Technology supports Microsoft Outlook as the university's preferred email application. Visit aub.ie/emailkb for more information on email and Outlook.
Microsoft Teams Voice
- Campus communications are conducted primarily through Microsoft Teams Voice. Visit aub.ie/teamsvoice for the Microsoft Teams Voice Guide.
Microsoft OneDrive
- All employees are allotted 1 TB of storage on OneDrive. You are encouraged to store any important files on OneDrive. Visit aub.ie/onedrivekb for additional information.
Microsoft Copilot
- Microsoft Copilot Chat, available to students and employees, is an AI-powered assistant integrated into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem that helps users create content, analyze information, and work more efficiently. When you sign in with your Auburn credentials, you receive enterprise data protection, meaning your prompts and responses are protected within Auburn's Microsoft 365 environment rather than being treated like a consumer AI account. Box
- Box is an additional cloud storage and file-sharing option that is a great collaboration tool for employees. Visit aub.ie/boxkb to get started with Box.
Adobe Creative Cloud
- All active employees have access to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products, including Adobe Express, and receive a subscription by default. Visit aub.ie/adobelogin to get started with Creative Cloud.
General Software
- Auburn University provides an array of software offerings and software specific to departments and schools. Visit aub.ie/softwarecatalog for Auburn's full software offerings.
- Software available to all employees without requesting special approval can be found at aub.ie/auinstall.
Employee Hardware Discounts
Employees and students are entitled to educational price discounts for computer hardware. More information about hardware discounts can be found in the Knowledge Base article at aub.ie/hardware.
Instructional Technology
Biggio Center
- Auburn's Biggio Center manages the instructional technology available to faculty members. Some of the primary tools you will have access to include:
- Canvas - learning management system
- Panopto - screen and audio capturing
- Qualtrics - survey tool
- iClicker - live in-class assessment tool

Zoom
- Every employee also has a licensed Zoom account for video calls, video conferencing, screen sharing and transcription. To set up Zoom, visit aub.ie/getzoom.
Web Hosting
- OIT provides several options for hosting data online. These include WordPress, SharePoint, and UNIX Servers. For more information and access to request forms, visit aub.ie/webhosting.
AU Access
Overview:
- AU Access is where employees connect to many AU resources online. Tools within the AU Access portal are categorized by cards. A link to AU Access is located at the top right of the AU homepage, or employees can log in directly at auaccess.auburn.edu using their AU username and password. Information on navigating AU Access is available in the AU Access Experience Overview Knowledge Base article.
Self-Service Banner:
- Banner is the official record of employee information. You will choose the "Employee" tab and select "Self Service" in AU Access to view leave balances, pay stubs, training resources, HR links, timekeeping, and other employee-related resources.
Parking Services:
- Within AU Access, you will choose the "My Campus" tab and select "Parking Passes" to manage your vehicle parking permit. For specific parking-related questions, contact Parking Services at 334-844-4143 or parking@auburn.edu.
ElevatED LinkedIn Learning Training:
- LinkedIn Learning is a leading online learning platform that helps anyone learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals.
- Within AU Access, there are two ways for employees to access LinkedIn Learning. Employees can access LinkedIn Learning training that is not tracked in ElevatED (Auburn University's Employee Education Center) from the "Employee" tab and "Employee Resource Tools" card. To access LinkedIn Learning training that integrates with ElevateED, as part of the employee’s training history, employees will choose the "Employee" tab and select the "ElevatED - Employee Education" card. Cybersecurity
Training:
- New employees are required to complete Auburn University cybersecurity training through KnowBe4 and will consequently complete additional cybersecurity training modules annually. Cybersecurity training can be found in AU Access by choosing the "Employees" tab and selecting the "Employee Resource Tools" card. Visit aub.ie/cybertrainingkb for more information.
Artificial Intelligence Operating Instruction & IT Policies:
- Cybersecurity has published the Artificial Intelligence Operating Instruction that provides concise, security-focused recommended controls for the use of Standalone Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools within Auburn University data. Reporting Phishing:
- Phishing is an attempt to acquire personal information by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication, typically by email, voice, or text. In addition to annual cybersecurity training, Auburn University conducts phishing exercises to educate and measure our adherence to safe cybersecurity practices. If you suspect an email message you have received is phishing, the Office of Information Technology advises to report phishing messages using the "Report Phishing" button in Outlook. IT Support Units
Departmental IT Groups:
- In addition to central Office of Information Technology, departmental (or distributed) IT groups are responsible for department-specific equipment and software management. Your departmental IT group will be your first resource for any work-related hardware or software needs. Visit aub.ie/itstaff to find your departmental IT contact.
Administrative Computing Coordinators:
- Administrative Computing Coordinators (ACCs) work with the OIT accounts administrators to provide employees and departments with access to various technology platforms including, but not limited to, Banner Finance, Banner HR, departmental shared drives and generic departmental email accounts. Every unit at Auburn is represented by an appointed ACC. Visit aub.ie/acc to locate your departmental-specific ACC.
IT Service Desk:
- The IT Service Desk is available to help answer technology-related questions and triage IT issues via phone, email, online chat, Zoom, and from walk-in clients.
