If you need to manage or request changes to network services, you will need to submit a Network Data Jack Request.
These changes will likely include the following:
This request form can be found by searching for “Network” on the OIT Homepage at auburn.edu/oit and selecting the Network Data Jack catalog item. You can also find a direct link to the request form at aub.ie/networkdata.
Follow these steps to ensure that you complete the Network Data Jack Request correctly.
1. Enter the Contact Information: In this section, you will need to provide who is requesting the change. Your information as the requestor will populate automatically.
2. Select the Network Service Request Details (Request Type): This is the type of work that will need to be done. The three request types for a requestor to choose from are Install new jack and activate service, Activate service on existing jack, and Repair Jack.
a. Install new jack and activate service (This request type can also be used when an existing jack needs to be moved to a different location on the same wall or within the same office.)
1. To choose this request type, select the Install new jack and activate service drop-down option. You will see the jack and billing information fields populate as shown below:
2. Enter the Jack Information as requested (number of jacks, building/room number where jack(s) are located, where in the room the jack(s) are located, and any additional details that will be helpful related to the request).
3. Enter the Billing Information (this is the department that will be charged and is necessary when changing network ports, telephone service, or equipment). If you know the FOP, you will select “Use a registered FOP or Tenant ID” and enter the FOP. If you need to add a new FOP, select "Add & use a new FOP" under Billing Charge Type and enter the FOP in the designated fields.
4. You can click the paperclip icon to add any attachments (images) that might be helpful related to the request.
5. Scroll back up to the top of the page and click the green Request button. You should receive an email confirming your submission.
b. Activate service on existing jack
1. To choose this request type, select the Activate service on existing jack drop-down option. You will see jack and billing information fields populate as shown below:
2. Enter the Jack Information as requested (number of jacks, existing jack number ID(s) if known, building/room number where jack(s) are located, where in the room the jack(s) are located, and any additional details that will be helpful related to the request).
3. Enter the Billing Information (this is the department that will be charged and is necessary when changing network ports, telephone service, or equipment). If you know the FOP, you will select “Use a registered FOP or Tenant ID” and enter the FOP. c. Repair Jack
1. To choose this request type, select the Repair Jack drop-down option. You will see a message stating, "For repairs, click this link that will prefill most of the 'Report an Issue' form for you." Click the Report an Issue button as shown below:
2. This will open up the Report an Issue request. Complete all necessary information related to the jack(s) in need of repair, scroll to the top, and click the green Submit button.
