VMware Horizon (Omnissa VMware Horizon) is a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) platform that allows users to securely access virtual desktops and applications from almost any device and location. Instead of installing and running software directly on a user's computer, Horizon Clients for Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android allow you to connect to your virtual desktop from your device of choice, giving you on-the-go access from any location.

Use the instructions below to download the VMware Horizon Client to a device.

1. Download the latest VMware Horizon Client from VMware's Customer Connect Site.
2. Double-click Agree & Install.
3. The installer will install the client with the defaults and will add the desktop shortcut.
4. You may need to restart your machine after the installation.
5. Once installed, from your desktop shortcuts, double-click Omnissa Horizon Client to launch the client.
6. When connecting for the first time, click Add Server.
7. Type horizon.auburn.edu as the name of the connection server, and click Connect.
8. Type your Auburn username and password, and click Login.
9. The screen will say "Authenticating." Accept the Duo push on your device.
10. Once connected, you will see the virtual desktop interface, as shown below. Double click the virtual desktop of choice.

The virtual desktop will load, as shown below. 

You must save files to your home folder on H: drive or to cloud storage such as Box or OneDrive to be able to access your files after logging off. Click Disconnect to disconnect from the virtual desktop. From the main Horizon Client screen, click Disconnect to log off of the server.

When connecting to VMware Horizon, if you receive the error, "The View Connection Server Connection Failed," make sure the connection server is horizon.auburn.edu (horizon.mmd.auburn.edu is used while on campus).
