• Microsoft Teams Voice refers to the capability to make and receive calls in Microsoft Teams. Teams users can call other Teams users. With Teams Voice, you can do this the same way you do now, but you can also make and receive calls to and from landlines and mobile phones.

2. Will this change how Microsoft Teams works?

• Adding Teams Voice does not change how Teams works; it just adds capabilities. The main thing you will see is a more intuitive interface with all of your contacts more easily accessible and the ability to use a dial pad to call an external phone number.

3. Why is Auburn University utilizing Microsoft Teams Voice?

• The Office of Information Technology has seen a significant reduction in the use of campus desk phones over the past few years, with many employees opting to use their cell phones and computers to make voice calls. It appears that a separate desk phone is no longer needed for most employees, but there is still considerable value for employees to have a university phone number for making and receiving business calls. The campus telecommunications modernization plan leverages Microsoft Teams as the next generation phone system for Auburn University, allowing university phone numbers to be assigned in Teams.
• Advantages for the university include more capabilities, the potential for more efficient and productive communications, and fewer systems to support and maintain. Employees can carry their AU phone number with them wherever they go, making and receiving university business calls on their laptops, tablets, and smartphones from anywhere they have connectivity to the Internet. • First, confirm that you have an active license for Microsoft Teams Voice. If you do not have a license, the dial pad will not appear. If you do have a Teams Voice license, and the dial pad is missing on your desktop or mobile device, try restarting your device.

6. Why would I want to use Teams Voice on my mobile device?

• Calls that come into Teams Voice can be answered within Teams on your desktop or Teams on your mobile phone. You can switch between the two. It also makes it easier to manage your address books, contacts, and call history - while staying in the workflow in Teams.
