If you have replaced the phone you activated for Duo Push and either kept the same phone number or received a new phone number, or if Duo Push stops working, you can try the self-reactivation process by following the instructions below. If the reactivation process listed below was not successful, or if you have questions regarding Duo reactivation, please contact the IT Service Desk at (334) 844-4944.
If reactivating Duo from your mobile phone device (with the Duo Mobile app installed on the same device), open a private/incognito window or tab in your device's web browser. Visit auburn.edu/duo and log in with your AU username and password.
See instructions below for:
A) Reactivating Duo Push from the Universal Prompt if you have a different phone device but kept your same phone number (easiest method);
B) Reactivating Duo Push from the Duo device management portal if you have a different phone device but kept your same phone number; and
C) Reactivating Duo Push from the Universal Prompt if you have a different phone device and different phone number.
Follow the instructions in this brief video to reactivate Duo push from the Universal Prompt, or view step-by-step instructions below:
1. In an incognito window on a web browser from your mobile device, go to auburn.edu/duo. Login with your Auburn credentials.
You should see the Duo Universal Prompt and a Duo Push authentication request, as shown below. In the lower-left corner, tap "Need help?".
2. Under "I got a new phone" tap "Activate Duo Mobile."
Note: An alternative way instead of tapping "Need help?" is to wait about one minute for the Duo Push authentication to time out (this method is shown in the video above). After the push times out, select "I got a new phone" to begin the reactivation process. Tapping either "Need help?" in steps 1 and 2 or using the push time-out method will both get you to step 3 listed below.
3. If you still use the same phone number as you did when you first set up the phone to use Duo Push, then tap "Text me a link."
4. When the text message with the link arrives on your phone, tap the link to automatically reactivate Duo Mobile on your phone to use Duo Push again. If you do not have the Duo Mobile app installed on your phone device, be sure to install it before you try to open the activation link in the text message. After tapping the activation link, you will be prompted to Open this page in Duo Mobile. Tap "Open," and your Duo Mobile app should automatically launch on your phone device.
5. From the Duo app, rename your account, if preferred (leaving it as OIT-Information Security is fine), and tap Save. Duo Mobile is now successfully reactivated on your phone device. Log into any Duo-protected AU resource to test your Duo Push authentication.
1. An alternative way to reactivate Duo Push (if you kept same phone number) is through the Duo Device Management Portal. After logging in at auburn.edu/duo, instead of responding to the authentication prompt, select the Other options link on the authentication page to view your list of available methods.
2. Select Manage devices at the end of the list to access the device management portal.
3. To access the device management portal, you will first need to verify your identity, just as you do when logging in to a Duo-protected resource or application. Select an available authentication option besides the Duo Push (phone call, SMS text) to verify your identity.
4. After approving a Duo authentication request, you will be able to see all of your registered devices in the device management portal. Locate your existing phone in the device management portal, and select the I have a new phone link.

6. Confirm your phone ownership by selecting Send me a passcode or Or call my phone to receive a passcode or call from Duo.
7. Enter the verification passcode you received via text message or phone call and select Verify.
8. Ensure that the Duo Mobile app has been installed on your new phone device, and select Next.
