Removing WiFi cached user info from Macs

When setting up WiFi on Macs, the user info will get cached. This information should be removed if a different user needs to log into an Auburn wireless network on the computer.

  1. Delete the WiFi connection:
      • Click the WiFi icon in the upper right of the top menu bar and click WiFi Settings
      • Toggle to Turn WiFi Off.
      • Click Advanced.
      • Under the Advanced tab, click the Auburn wireless network name (i.e. AU_Wifi, eduroam) from the known networks list and click Remove From List. You will see a prompt stating that your Mac and other devices using iCloud Keychain will no longer join this WiFi network. Click Forget
      • Under the 802.1X tab in Details, delete User Profiles (click on it to select, then click minus), and delete Login Window Profiles (click on it to select, then click minus).

  2. Delete WiFi certificates in Keychain:
      • Finder > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access and login.
      • Select Certificates.
      • Delete clearpass1.auburn.edu (control+click then select delete).
      • Under Passwords, delete WPA: (i.e. AU_WiFi).
      • More information on Keychain Access can be found in the Apple Keychain Access User Guide.

  3. Turn WiFi back on, and log in. If the user info is still not deleted:
    • Open Finder. Click Go and select Go to Folder.
    • To access the User Library, type in ~/Library and click Go.
    • Double click the Preferences folder.
    • Delete com.apple.eap.profiles.plist (control+click -> Move to Trash).
