How to Solve Browser Issues with Incognito Window or Clearing Cache and Cookies


Often, browser issues can be resolved by restarting your browser, opening an incognito or private window, and clearing cache and cookies. 

Browse in Private or Incognito Window:

Follow the instructions below to open a private or incognito browser session and then navigate to the URL you would like to visit.

Chrome Browser:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Chrome More three dots selection and then New Incognito Window.
  3. A new window appears. In the top corner, check for the Incognito icon Chrome Incognito icon.

You can also use a keyboard shortcut to open an Incognito window:

  • Windows, Linux, or Chrome OS: Press Ctrl + Shift + n.
  • Mac: Press  + Shift + n.

 

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome app icon.
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap More Chrome More three dots icon and then New Incognito tab.
  3. A new window appears. In the top left, check for the Incognito icon Incognito.

* If you see the below message, open the webpage in a normal Chrome tab.

 "Taking screenshots isn't allowed by the app or your organization."

 

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app Chrome app icon.
  2. Tap More Chrome More three dots icon and then New Incognito Tab Incognito. A new Incognito tab opens.

 

 

Safari Browser:

  1. In Safari, tap the tabs icon (it looks like two overlapping squares).

 

  1. Swipe left to reveal the Private tab group.

 

  1. Tap Private to open a new private tab group. Tap Done to confirm.

 

  

Clear your Cache or Cookies:

Follow the instructions below to clear cache and cookies in a browser session and then navigate to the URL you would like to visit.

Chrome Browser:

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More Chrome More three dots icon.
  3. Click Delete browsing data.
  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.
  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  6. Click Delete data.

 

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Chrome icon.
  2. At the top right, tap More More three dots icon.
  3. Tap Delete browsing data.

  1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chrome app Chrome icon.
  2. At the bottom, tap More More three dots icon.
  3. Tap Delete browsing data.
  4. Make sure there’s a check mark next to "Cookies, Site Data," and "Cached Images and Files."
  5. Tap Delete browsing data.

 

 

Safari Browser:

  • In the Safari app safari app icon on your Mac, choose Safari > Settings, then click on the  Privacy tab.
  • Click Manage Website Data.
  • Select one or more websites, then click Remove or Remove All.

  1. To clear your history and cookies, go to Settings > Apps > Safari, and scroll down to tap Clear History and Website Data. 

 

  1. Select your timeframe and click Clear History. Clearing your history, cookies, and browsing data from Safari won't change your AutoFill information.
  2. To clear your cookies and keep your history, go to Settings > Apps > Safari > Advanced > Website Data, then tap Remove All Website Data.
