Our campus television provider, Apogee, offers students living in on-campus* residence halls more than 100 channels of digital TV. Our on-campus residents can also watch their favorite shows and sports on a variety of devices by downloading the Stream2 app.
*160 Ross, 191 College, and The Union are considered off-campus AU Housing and are not included in the on-campus residence hall cable TV service.
Please note that Smart TVs are eligible for streaming on campus but use a separate wireless network connection through AU_ResHalls. For more information on connecting Smart TVs, please read our knowledge base article at aub.ie/reshalls.
On-campus Cable Television: Requirements
- In order to connect to the campus cable TV system, your TV must support a coaxal connection and must have a QAM tuner.
- All televisions have cable tuners. Auburn University requires a specific type of tuner called QAM. QAM is used to receive digital channels from a cable TV provider without use of a cable box. Your TV must support QAM to function on the University provided Apogee Cable TV system.
- Be sure you have carefully consulted your TV's user manual.
- Manuals can be found on the manufacturer's website or by searching Google for the TV model number and manufacturer's name.
- If the documentation includes the terms "QAM" or "QAM capable", your TV tuner should be compatible with the Apogee Cable TV system.
- If your TV does not have a QAM tuner you have two options:
- You can borrow a QAM tuner from the Cable TV department in OIT. You will be required to fill out paperwork accepting the terms and conditions of using this hardware, and the student is responsible for returning the tuner to OIT at the end of the academic year. If you do not return the tuner, or it is damaged, you will be charged a $150 fee.
- You can also purchase a set-top QAM Tuner (works like a home cable box with your TV). The QAM tuners can be found at Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart.
