Home directories are hosted on a Dell EMC Isilon NAS storage. The Isilon provides snapshots for up to two weeks. Snapshots are seen as Previous Versions in Windows Explorer.
You will have two options: Open and Restore. Please note that not all Windows setups will allow Restore.
- Restore: will replace the current file/directory and depending on when you made the last change, you could lose recent changes.
- Open: you can open the previous version on a new window and copy and paste the file or directory to a temporary place.
To view and recover previous versions of your files/directories, follow the next steps.
- Make a temporary folder (ex: temp).
- Right-click on the folder that contains the file of the folder to recover and select Properties.
- A new properties window will open.
- Click on the Previous Versions tab.
- The Folders Versions section will take a moment to populate.

- Navigate to the date and time frame you would like to access.
- Click on the file/folder to restore, then click on either Open or Restore.
- Restore: Click on restore, then on the confirmation. Wait for the software to restore the file/folder.
- Open: A new window will open. You can copy and paste the files/directories you need to recover to your temporary folder. After verifying you have found what you need, replace the current folder/file.
- Delete the temporary folder.
